Class Descriptions

Contemporary

Contemporary classes focus on learning techniques such as contract and release, articulation of the body, storytelling, rhythm, floor work, jumps, and turns. Contemporary will increase the dancer's technique, strength, artistry, musicality, coordination, flexibility, bravery, self-confidence, and full body expression. Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Ballet 

Ballet classes focus on learning ballet technique, musicality, fluidity, artistry, flexibility, and strength. Through three sections of barre, center, and across the floor, the dancers will develop better posture, flexibility, strength, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Optionally, dancers are encouraged to bring ankle and wrist weights.  Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Pointe

 Pointe classes are invite-only and will allow the dancer to dance in pointe shoes. Through three sections of barre, center, and across the floor, dancers will increase their ability to dance en pointe while gaining strength, technique, and balance. Optionally, dancers are encouraged to bring ankle and wrist weights.  Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned after


Lyrical 

Lyrical classes focus on classical ballet technique through a more fluid and relaxed lense. Lyrical involves more fluid movements while the dancer's tell a story. This class focuses on increasing the dancers artistry, fluidity, story telling, strength, and flexibility. Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Musical Theater

 This class will focus on using fundamentals of musical theatre choreography and jazz technique as it relates to the Broadway stage. This will include a warm up, center work, across the floor, along with other exercises that will use Broadway choreography. These sections will allow the dancers to learn musicality, flexibility, how to pick up choreography quickly, and how to use theatrical body language and facials.  Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Write a Musical

 This class will teach the artist how to write and perform a musical from start to finish. This class will include script writing and analysis, acting and improv, singing warm ups, dance warm ups, choreography, character development, and team work. 

This class allows the artist to work together to come up with approximately 30 min to an hour long musical theater performance that they will collaboratively write themselves and then perform for a live audience. 


Write a Musical for the Bible

This class will teach the artist how to write and perform a Bible story as a musical from start to finish. This class will include script writing and analysis, acting and improv, singing warm ups, dance warm ups, understanding the Biblical story we are telling through musical theater, choreography, character development, and team work. 

This class allows the artist to work together to come up with approximately 30 min to an hour long Biblical based musical theater performance that they will collaboratively write themselves and then perform for a live audience. 


Triple Threat (Music, Acting, and Dancing)

This class is ideal for artists interested in learning more about the non-dancing aspects of musical theater. This class will cover basic music, acting, and singing fundamentals through a variety of exercises. The music aspect will go over basic music theory, rhythm, and how to read and follow sheet music. The singing aspect will go over basic vocal and breathing techniques, how to harmonize, and how to prepare for a vocal audition. Lastly, the acting aspect of this class will cover acting techniques such as enunciation, facial and body emotions, character building, script annotation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pen and notebook.


Tap 

This class is intended to provide dancers with more information about the fundamentals of tap dance through rhythm training, body awareness, and agility training.  Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Baby Ballet

  This class focuses on teaching young dancers the fundamentals of  rhythm, body awareness, fluidity, musicality, class organization, sharing, and flexibility through follow the leader, exercises, games, and short dance phrases across the floor. Parents or guardians must be present in class. 


Make Music and Stories

Our Make Music and Stories class is an opportunity for young artists to get a first taste of musical theater in a fun and educational way. This class will focus on music with fun instruments, dancing, story telling, improv and acting games, and character development. 


Acro

This class will focus on learning tricks and gaining flexibility that young dancers can include in their choreography. This acro class will focus on stretching, the fundamentals of tricks such as cartwheels, somersault, pike jump, and splits. This class will encourage dancers to gain strength and flexibility while also learning about the ways to stay safe while practicing these tricks.  Dancers are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen to take notes of what they learned.


Gospel Worship Lyrical

This class will focus on lyrical and ballet movement techniques to christian music. This class will be an opportunity for dancers to dance for God in a therapeutic and safe environment. This class will include ballet and lyrical class elements such as ballet barre, across the floor, and choreography to christian music. This class includes optional opportunities to perform the choreography learned in class for the community.


Dance Fitness 

This class will focus on building strength, balance, and flexibility through dance choreography, floor and standing exercises, weight training, and stretching. This class is ideal for people who want a fun work out, or dancers who are looking to advance their dance training. Optionally, attendees are encouraged to bring ankle and wrist weights, elastic bands, water bottle, sweat towel, and yoga mats. 


Jazzy exercise

This class will focus on building strength, balance, and flexibility through a variety of dance choreographies that incorporate weights and elastic bands. This class is ideal for people who want a fun work out, or dancers who are looking to advance their dance training. Optionally, attendees are encouraged to bring ankle and wrist weights, elastic bands, water bottle, and sweat towel.


Young Artists

This class will be engaging with a variety of different art styles such as painting, crafts, watercolor, using unique tools to achieve a certain texture, etc. Crafts may include clay, painting on wooden structures, making a provided object, and many more. Each week the child will be working on or continuing a new creation. The artists will get to use creative freedom, learn new techniques, and spark their minds for a passion of arts and crafts!
