General Dress Code

Artists must be dressed in a professional manner. No profanity on clothing, underwear needs to be covered while being active, hair out of face,

and chest needs to be covered.

Why is a dress code important and required?

A dress code for a dance class is important because it promotes discipline, ensures safety, and enhances performance. Wearing the appropriate attire allows instructors to see a dancer’s posture, alignment, and movements clearly, making it easier to provide corrections and guidance. Proper dancewear also minimizes the risk of injury by ensuring that clothing does not restrict movement or become a tripping hazard. Additionally, a dress code fosters a sense of unity and professionalism among students, creating an environment that encourages focus and dedication. By following a set dress code, dancers can move comfortably and confidently, allowing them to fully engage in their training and development.

Dress code options can be purchased at The Costumer (10% off if you mention our studio), Capezio, Bloch, DiscountDance, Justice, Amazon, and RevolutionDance, and FiveDanceWear. (Contact us for more options).

All artists should be supportive of everyone's journey. Everyone learns at a different pace.

We should not compete with each other, we should strive to be better than we were the last week.

Cancellation Policy

Out of curtesy, please let us know within 24 hours if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Any cancellation or no-show made within 12 hours of your appointment will incur a 100% missed appointment fee.

(Equivalent to the price of that class's attendance)

Professionalism

Artists should try to hold themselves to a professional standard whenever possible.

This includes dress code, attitude, and performance quality.

Guardian Observation and Participation

Parents should stay in the hallway and observe students through the viewing windows. This will allow the artists to

stay focused and get the most out of the classes. (With the exception of the 2y and under classes)

Drop In Option

All classes have the option to be a drop in, except for the performance based classes*. If artists choose to do drop in instead of committing to the year, they will not be able to participate in performances or recitals.

What does "Audition/Approval" Mean?
Audition or Approval means that the artist needs to be approved before signing up for the class through the owner.

This means that the class either has a strength requirement, or it involves more performance opportunities for the artist.

Expectations of the Modern Art Dance Company

The Modern Art Dance Company is a pre-professional performance based group which is separate from our weekly classes. Dancers must audition to be a part of this group. This group is expected to act professionally and maturely, coming prepared with materiel completely prepared prior to rehearsal starting. Dancers are expected to behave as pre-professionals during rehearsals and performances. This group is for dancers who want a strictly professional atmosphere, fast paced progress, and want to be treated as a professional.

This company will have multiple free performances throughout the year at various venues.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are a great way to get 1-1 time with the instructor. Individual attention can help an artist to accelerate their progress. Private lessons can be scheduled whenever the student and instructor or both available, and can be whatever style or focus the student wants.

Our Morals

We believe that a professional and healthy atmosphere will help the artist to grow to their fullest potential. We believe that the healthy mind, the healthy body, the environment, and the community all are a part of positive art. With that, we strive to create that professional and healthy atmosphere in a few ways. Our music choices will be appropriate. We will not play music that uses profanity, speaks about alcohol, partying, drugs, or any inappropriate topics in any class regardless of age. Dress code must be followed and no one will be permitted to dance if not following the general dress code. We will not body shame or teach in a way that is harmful to the body or the mind. We will correct artists without screaming, using non-constructive language, or profanity at artists. We will not instruct artists to move their bodies in inappropriate ways such as gyrating, twerking, or posing in exposing positions. We strive to be loving, accepting, educational, inclusive, professional, productive, and welcoming.
